What Does It Mean to Volunteer?
As a Volunteer in a clinical trial, you help in the development of new medical therapies that may offer improved treatments for a disease.
A potential participant must meet specific eligibility criteria set by the protocol before being entered into a clinical trial. This may involve a physical exam, laboratory testing, or other diagnostic tests, depending on the particular study. The potential volunteer's medical history is also reviewed. Full informed consent must be received prior to participation.
There is no cost for participating in our studies, and upon completion of a study, participants usually receive compensation for their time and effort. All medical care and medications related to the study are provided free of charge.
If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, just pick up the phone and call us. One of our helpful staff members will begin the screening process by asking you a series of questions about your medical history and other study-specific criteria. This will help us determine if you are a good candidate. If you meet the initial requirements on the phone, you will be scheduled to come into our office to begin the study specific procedures, which may include skin testing, lab work, EKG, and a physical exam.
